Medical draft · pending veterinary review
Many healthy dogs eat grass. Most do not vomit afterwards, and studies suggest it is often normal behaviour rather than a sign of illness.
Possible reasons
- Enjoying the taste or texture
- Boredom
- Mild stomach upset
- Low-fibre diet
When to see a vet
- Frequent vomiting after eating grass
- Weight loss, diarrhoea or poor appetite
- Sudden frantic grass eating
Grass treated with pesticides or fertiliser can be toxic. Avoid sprayed areas in parks.
